Bernice Eisenstein (1949– ) was born in Toronto to Polish parents, both of whom survived Auschwitz and later immigrated to Canada. Bernice obtained a B.A. from York University, followed by studies in art in England and Israel. Eisenstein has worked as an illustrator, book reviewer and a freelance editor for periodicals such as the Globe and Mail and other Jewish Canadian Women Writers. In 2006, Eisenstein published I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors, an autobiographical graphic novel. The novel was developed into an animated film in 2010. In January 2020, Eisenstein released an interview entitled Inheritance of the Holocaust. Eisenstein continues to live in Toronto.
