Tilda Shalof has worked as a nurse at the Toronto General Hospital of the University Health Network on the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit for twenty-four years. She has released several books, sharing the personal and professional challenges she has faced over her years of experience as a critical care nurse, including A Nurse’s Story (2005), The Making of a Nurse (2008), Lives in the Balance (2009), Camp Nurse: My Adventures at Summer Camp (2009), Opening My Heart: A Journey from Nurse to Patient and Back Again (2011), and Bringing It Home: A Nurse Discovers Healthcare Beyond the Hospital (2014). Shalof is also a keynote speaker, a media commentator, a patient advocate, and a nurse leader. She lives in Toronto with her husband and their two kids.
