Aviva Ravel (1928‒ ) is a playwright and educator. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, and holds a B.A. from Concordia, an M.A. from the Université de Montreal, and a Ph.D. from McGill University in Canadian Theatre. Having also graduated from McGill’s School for Teachers, Ravel taught in Montreal, in Israel on a kibbutz, and founded Avika School. She also taught Drama, English, and Canadian Literature at various universities, including those from which she received her own education. Ravel has authored many plays featured both on stage and on film, has written articles, short stories, monologues, a biography, and has also edited two books of Canadian plays. She has also translated many plays from English to French, and has received many awards for her work.
