Rachel Rose (1970‒ ) is a writer of short stories, poems, and essays. She is the author of poetry collections Marry & Burn (2015), Song and Spectacle (2012), Notes on an Arrival and Departure (2005), and Giving my Body to Science (1999), as well as of two works of fiction: her memoir The Dog Lover Unit: Lessons in Courage from the World’s K9 Cops (2017) and the short story collection The Octopus Has Three Hearts (2021). She has been nominated and received awards for many of her works. Rose was the Poet Laureate Emerita of Vancouver from 2014 to 2017.
