Janis Rapoport (1946‒ ) was born in Toronto, Ontario, where she earned her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Toronto. Rapoport is a playwright, non-fiction writer, poet, educator, and editor. She has been a Creative Writing instructor at the University of Toronto, a Playwright-in-Residence, an Associate Editor for Tamarack Review, and Editor of Ethos. She is a member of the Playwrights’ Guild of Canada, and has been a member of the League of Canadian Poets, the Writers’ Guild of Canada, the Writers’ Union of Canada, and PEN International. Rapoport has published numerous plays, poems, and non-fiction pieces, and has received multiple awards for her works.
