Elise Levine is originally from Toronto, Ontario. She earned her BA in English and Philosophy from the University of Toronto, and later went on to earn an MFA in Fiction from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her personal essays and poetry have appeared in several publications, including Ploughshares, The Gettysburg Review, Blackbird, and Best Canadian Stories. Levine’s published works include two story collections, Driving Men Mad (1995) and This Wicked Tongue (2019), two novels, Requests and Dedications (2003) and Blue Field (2016), and a forthcoming novella collection entitled Say This, which is set to be released in March 2022. Levine has won several awards and honours, including the Canadian National Magazine Award for fiction, as well as being a finalist for Best Small Fictions 2018. Levine has taught creative writing in the MFA program at American University, and directed the MA in Writing program at John Hopkins University. She now teaches in the MFA program at Chatham University and lives in Baltimore, MD.
