Alison Pick (1975‒ ) was born on 1 January in Toronto, Ontario, and grew up in Kitchener. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a B.A. in psychology in 1999, and then received an M.A. in philosophy from Newfoundland’s Memorial University. Pick’s published books include The Sweet Edge (2005), Far to Go (2010), Between Gods: A Memoir (2014), and, most recently, Strangers with the Same Dream (2017). Pick is also the author of two poetry collections, Question and Answer (2003) and The Dream World (2008). Pick’s shorter works have appeared in various anthologies and collections, and she has appeared in numerous publications, including The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, and enRoute Magazine. Pick’s works have received and been short-listed for numerous awards. She won the Bronwen Wallace Award for most promising writer under the age of 35 in Canada in 2002. Pick served on the jury of the 2015 Scotiabank Giller Prize, and also taught at the 2015 Iceland Writers Retreat in Reykjavik, Island. Pick divides her time between Toronto and St. John’s, and is a faculty member of the Humber School for Writers and the Sage Hill Writing Experience.
