The project includes: Mayfair, La Revue Moderne, Canadian Home Journal, Chatelaine, La Revue Populaire, and Maclean's. In thematic terms, the research focuses on the magazines' role in constructing the relationship between travel and the culture of aspiration. Outputs include a book (2015), a special journal issue (2014), a series of papers, and an interactive website including visualisations and sample digitised material on the themes of fashion, travel, and consumer culture. The research funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (2011-2013) was undertaken by Faye Hammill, Michelle Smith, and Cristina Judge at the University of Strathclyde. Ongoing work is focused on developing the resources for the CWRC repository, and on developing digital and empirical methods for comparing magazines across borders of nation, genre or language.
