Challenges include supporting an increasingly research-focused institution, responding to major changes in Canada's copyright landscape, leveraging consortial partnerships, focusing attention on the digital humanities, the lack of interoperability among systems, demand for more, higher-skilled staff at a time when they are understaffed. Information literacy should be embedded in the curriculum; the library and the university need to work together to ensure barrier-free accessibility; libraries must demonstrate their strategic value to the organization in measurable, outcomes-based ways that reinforce the essential function of the library; critique of cuts to LAC; Canada lacks leadership at the national level.
