We aim to provide insight into six Canadian periodicals that contributed towards the development of Canadian middlebrow culture.
This project explores the histories of mainstream anglophone and francophone Canadian magazines between 1925 and 1960. We have catalogued the contents of two magazines down to the article level. We also present selected issues and pages from all six in digital form.

The main research project was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (2011-13). Ongoing work is being funded by the Foundation for Canadian Studies in the UK (2015-16)
Runs of the six magazines are held at Library and Archives Canada, and we are grateful for their support; further research was conducted at the Robarts Library, University of Toronto. The project was supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the University of Strathclyde.
