Motivation during COVID

By Tristan Reid

For me personally, motivation has been pretty difficult to come by this semester. Whether that be because of the world at large or just because of how daunting some classes have seemed. Either way, it's just been different.

Usually, I need a change in scenery to feel like I'm getting things done. So not being able to head to campus to do work has been pretty difficult for me, since I stay at home days I don't work. So it's been really easy to get into a rut. In an attempt to curb that, I started to take walks Monday mornings as just an attempt to get out of the house and go somewhere. I listen to music and just kill time until my first lecture on Monday's at 11:30.

For me, this small act was a huge step in creating new routines and getting myself into a good headspace to do work and make the most of my time.

My walks were also a nice opportunity to stop at the Tim's up the street from my house, which is convenient. Especially since I'm the kind of person to get Ice Capps into the winter months.

Along my normal route, there was also a tree that had some mushrooms growing in a nook, it was sort of satisfying watching them develop each week as I walked by. I don't know what kind they are, but they're great nonetheless!

This picture is the last major change in the mushrooms, I'm surprised they lasted through the snow.

This was the earliest photo I took of the mushrooms, they're just sprouting.

This is the second stage of mushroom, here their caps have started to split as they grow out.
