Description: An electronic diagram of a human body showing the respiratory system. There is a simple representation of a ventilator inserted into the diagram's windpipe. The body of the ventilator shows the pump inside that pushes air into the lungs. In the bottom left there is a graph of pressure versus time broken down into four sections that are labelled along the bottom of the image: 1) Peak respiratory pressure, 2) Plateau pressure, 3) Driving pressure, and 4) Positive expiratory pressure. The graph increases, then drops sharply after 1, 2 is a plateau, 3 is the difference between the plateau at 2 and at 4, 4 being lower than 2. The right half of the image is a close up of the alveoli in the lungs where oxygen enters the bloodstream. An arrow shows carbon dioxide exiting the lungs and oxygen entering the bloodstream, as it is supposed to.
