My sister Emma Huynh is a young Canadian-born Chinese artist, and throughout the quarantine, she has created many art pieces that express her feeling towards the Pandemic. Bloodshed is my favourite painting she has painted due to its significance to the world. Bloodshed is a brightly coloured painting filled with brilliant reds, rosy pink, some greens, olive skin toned colour, highlights of white and outlines done with black paint. The artwork consists of a young Chinese girl with a crown of roses encircling her head. Roses are beautiful flowers that come in various colours with different meanings. Red rose to symbolize passion, while pink roses symbolize femininity and grace. Roses are also known to have thorns in this painting, the thorns represent racism and the feeling of isolation. The bleeding shown in the painting originates from the hateful thrones of racism experienced by young Chinese women. The tears are also bloody from all the hate crimes and blood spilt from violence against East Asians within the pandemic. Huynh, Emma.
