This I Have Believed is a multidisciplinary performance piece in dance and theatre. Autobiographical in nature, this 45-minute play marks a woman’s personal journey through a childhood infused with very strict religious dogma in the Mennonite faith. The character is presented at at the ages of five, ten, fifteen, and as an adult; as she absorbs what is around her she responds with her understanding of the cultural and religious doctrines she has been taught. Two chairs form the set, and are moved to represent her relationships with others and her religion.
