"And All for Love" is the story of imagined friendship between two of the first women on the Restoration stage in London in the mid 1600s. Winnifred Gosnell has run away from the employ of diarist Samuel Pepys to take to the stage at the Duke's Company, where she meets Elizabeth Barry, ward of the Bettertons, the proprietors of the company. Elizabeth wants desperately to be an actress and fails repeatedly until she is tutored by the dissolute Lord Rochester, who takes her on as a bet. Winnifred has initial success with the company but slowly looses her nerve and her ability. Their friendship is tested as one's star rises and the other falls. This is a story of friendship and what two women will do for the love of the theatre.
