Vasilissa, a young noblewoman, boldly dresses as a knight to rescue her husband, Stavr, and then is tricked into keeping up the disguise on a quest to find the legendary Firebird. The immortal sorcerer Kostchi is also hunting the Firebird, forcing them to struggle against Fate and Sorrow and risk their own lives to save this spirit of Fire and Light.
