Naturellement, ils se heurtent à une grosse difficulté : c’est le recrutement des chœurs. Ils ont déjà réuni un bon noyau de chanteurs ; mais ils en voudraient davantage. Ils s’adressent de tous côtés, tâchant d’intéresser les non-professionnels, les gens du monde à ces exécutions. Voulez-vous me permettre de vous demander si vous ne connaitriez pas de jeunes filles et de dames qui consentiraient à y prendre part. Je crois d’ailleurs que <persName ref="http://viaf.org/viaf/19872263/" key="Raugel, Félix, 1881-1975" cert="high" type="real">Raugel</persName> serait très heureux de pouvoir causer un peu de sa société avec vous. Il m’a prié de le recommander à vous ; et je le fais bien volontiers : car ce jeune maitre de chapelle est un excellent musicien et très sympathique. </p><p>Il veut bien me demander conseil pour ses programmes et j’insiste, autant que je puis, sur un point : que ses concerts soient variés, amusants, joyeux – (ce qui est facile avec Haendel), -- pas solennels, maussades, collet-monté, comme les concerts de Bach, qu’on nous donne aujourd’hui. Que cela soit un plaisir. Je pense que vous m’approuverez. Il y a de beaux concerts, aujourd’hui, où je ne peux plus aller : j’y meurs d’ennui et de froid.</p><p>J’ai vu <persName ref="http://viaf.org/viaf/32264756/" key="Dupin, Paul, 1865-1949" cert="high" type="real">Dupin</persName>. Je ne sais s’il vous a dit que <persName ref="http://viaf.org/viaf/29532408/" key="Curzon, Henri de 1861-1942" cert="high" type="real">Parent</persName> est très content de ses quatuors, et veut les exécuter. Je cherche à présent un moyen pour le mettre à même de suivre un peu de musique d’orchestre. Je pense que le meilleur moyen serait d’obtenir de <persName ref="http://viaf.org/viaf/76532045/" key="Colonne, Édouard, 1838-1910" cert="high" type="real">Colonne</persName> ou de <persName ref="http://viaf.org/viaf/7576613/" key="Chevillard, Camille, 1859-1923" cert="high" type="real">Chevillard</persName> qu’ils lui donnent une entrée permanente à leurs répétitions générales. Il m’eut été bien facile de le leur demander, il y a un an : depuis <hi rend="underline"><title ref="http://viaf.org/viaf/312469772/" key="Rolland, Romain 1866-1944 | Foire sur la place" cert="high" level="m">la Foire sur la Place</title></hi>, j’hésite un peu, ne sachant pas si ma recommandation serait aussi bien accueillie.
