18 June 14th, and was tendered a monster reception in Queen’s Park. It was understood that when Dr. Bethune returned from Spain he was to address meetings across Canada. It was first proposed that he and the film would go together. Owing to unexpected delays in the preparation of the film it was decided that Dr. Bethune would go through to the coast by himself, and that an effort would be made to have the film completed by the time he reached Vancouver, and that he would return with it, covering some of the same places a second time. There was a break in this plan and from Edmonton Dr. Bethune went South to California, coming back to Vancouver and from Vancouver on East taking in the following places: Calgary, Drumheller, Edmonton, North Battleford, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Melville, Yorkton, Regina, Moose Jaw, Winnipeg, Windsor, London, St. Cath- arines. A separate statement will show the financial results of the film and Dr. Bethune’s tour. A number of isolated meetings were also held; some with the film and some without. Without the filme he spoke in Montreal. With the film he spoke in Ottawa, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Toronto. It may he said that there has also been a demand for his services in the United States, and he has addressed meetings in New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, San Franscisco, and Los Angeles. Besides these, he has spoken to a number of groups, and on various oc- casions. His trip across Canada excited tremendous interest, equalling in some places the enthusiasm with which the first Spanish delegation was welcomed. The springing of the Provincial elections in the Province of Ontario made difficult the holding of projected Bethune-Film meetings. It was, therefore, decided to break new ground and send the combination to the Maritime Provinces. Dr. Bethune went and held successful meetings at Halifax, Moncton, Glace Bay, Sydney, Sydney Mines and New Waterford. The interest stirred up by this visit is being organized locally and we may expect encouraging returns. THE FILM While Dr. Bethune was in Spain he decided that it would be advisable to have a film made for use in Canada depicting the activities of the Blood Transfusion Project.
