But they need more than support. The deadly bombs drop-
ped from the Junkers and Capronis have taken a toll of hun-
dreds of thousands of lives. Defenseless women and children
have become the chosen targets of the fascist murderers.

Thousands of little children are maimed, wounded, crippled,
hungry and homeless. The war has already left tens of thou-
asnds of them orphaned and alone. They have become the
wards of the Spanish government and the Spanish Interna.tional
Labor Defense. This heroic sister section of our organization
has born the entire brunt of mobilizing the first aid service,
running hospitals, setting up children’s homes, housing, clothing
and feeding the refugees from fascist territory. Its workers
are found on every front, right in the line of fire.

of the wounded fill every line, the cries of the little children,
the moans of the homeless mothers almost blot out the words.
Help us lessen their suffering. Help us keep them supplied with
the medical supplies they so urgently need. You can assist in

mothers. You can aid in bringing a little happiness into the lives
of the thousands of boys and girls who are left alone to face
a difficult but glorious future.
