fifty men housed in space 
enough for three hundred so it 
can readily be understood how
vermin played a huge part

+ fleas led to sores breaking out 
on the bodies of most of our 
comrades and as medical supplies 
were almost nil it was almost 
impossible to cure with the result 
that many of us have still got 
open, running, sores that will
