The report was as follows,- 
“The over-seas work of the Canadian Committee to Aid Spanish Democracy 
is proceeding along four main lines. - Blood Transfusion, Hospital, 
Children's Homes and supplying Food. 
BLOOD TRANSFUSION 
“The Instituto Hispano-Canadiense de Transfusion de Sangre established 
by Dr. Norman Bethune and supported liberally by Canadian friends of 
Spanish democracy has been brought to a magnificently successful culmina-
tion and has been taken over in totality by the Spanish Government and 
integrated into the medical services of the Sanidad Militar. 
“This happy result followed a great deal of negotiation, first by Dr. 
Bethune before he left Spain, afterwards by the other Canadian members of 
the Institute, and later by Mr. A. A MacLeod, and finally by Mr. Allen 
May. The arrangement made was later confirmed by the following exchange 
of telegrams.-

“The payments called for by this arrangement have been made up to and 
including October. In addition there has been sent medical material 
amounting to 3,350 francs. There has also been shipped another Ford 
Station Wagon. This is being equipped with a refrigerator in Paris, after 
which it will be transported to Valencia by the Centrale Sanitair Inter-
nationals.
