As to why I didn't write a letter to you first before going to the media, that is a valid question on your part. The idea did come to my mind but I will briefly outline why I sent the reply to the media instead. I think all the veterans at the seminar were highly impressed with its results. I did not get hold of the copy of the paper until Sunday night and after reading the article was very upset about it. Next morning I left for home. I did not have your address. I would have had to write to Bill Beeching to get your address, then start correspondence with you. All that would have taken a lot of time. In the meantime, those people who have read the article of Oct. 13th would have probably forgotten about it, if any correction would have appeared in the paper later on. I felt the correction had to be made right away while it was still fresh in the minds of those who read it, if it was to be effective. As to why Beeching sent you a copy of the letter a month late, I have no idea and it would be foolish on my part to guess. I hope this will clarify the questions you have raised in your letter. Again I want to thank you for your frankness in expressing your opinions in the letter. Wishing you the best of health and happiness in the year 1985, Comradely yours, ” ’ W. A. Kardash
