During the afternoon we had nothing to do except look forward to the evening meal hoping in vain that it would be more substantial than dinner. This turned out to be also a small portion of lentils or beans sometimes without sardines. At night sound sleep was unknown to us owing to vermin ridden conditions of our clothing and blankets, most of us breaking out in running sores caused by the diet and vermin. However we who are out of that hell are more fortunate than the German and Polish comrades who are refused re-admittance to their native countries and whose agents[?] are strongly urging the officials to execute them.
