I was a prisoner of war for 
13 months, in fascist spain
10 of them were spend in San 
Pedro de Cardeña province of
Burgos.
the condition there were 
terrible, 700 man living in
two long rooms, just like 
a herd of pigs.
to take care of sanitary conditions 
we had 4 toilets and 3 water taps
the rooms were overcrowded, 
sleeping on the floor with barely 
enough room to stretch out, 
everybody was full of vermin 
although the men were killing
the lice and fleas by the
hundreds it did not help 
the very walls and floors were 
crawling with them 
all the men were full of sores ^from^
lice and flea bites and from
