In General Franco’s big drive in March 1938 a large body of International were captured and sent to a concentration camp at Burgos. The conditions and treatment at the camp was such as to cause many death in there ranks, deaths from minor illness was a common thing as there was not medical treatment many of them had open wounds for which no treatment was given. Beatings were every day given by n.c.o’s who were especial picked to look after the Internationals, those who had bad wounds that caused them much pain where the ones usualy picked for the job as they could take it out on the Internationals, which they did without fail.
